Dr. Hal Wissel - Florida Southern College, Basketball Coach
Wissel, currently an advance scout for the New Jersey Nets of the National Basketball Association, was national coach-of-the-year during the 1980-81 season when he led Florida Southern to the Division II national championship, the only national title an SSC team has won in men's basketball. He coached for five years at FSC (1977-82), winning three SSC titles and posted a 105-49 overall record. The Mocs were 13-4 in post-season play under Wissel. The Springfield (MA) College graduate, who earned his master's degree from Indiana University and his doctorate degree from Springfield College, also led the Mocs to a third-place finish in the NCAA tournament during the 1979-80 season and a second-place finish in the 1981-82 season. He was SSC coach-of-the-year twice.
