NORMAN, Okla. (Men’s Golf) – The Golf Coaches Association of America announced its 2014 Team Academic Awards presented by Farmers Insurance. Six of Sunshine State Conference men’s golf programs were named Division II All-Academic Teams.

16 SSC Men's Golfers Named 2014 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. (Men’s Golf) – The Golf Coaches Association of America announced the 2014 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars for Division I, II and the NAIA. There were a total of 75 student-athletes in Division II honored, including 16 student-athletes from the Sunshine State Conference.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Men’s Basketball) – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced its 2013-14 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award winners. Four Sunshine State Conference men’s basketball programs earned the distinction.

19 SSC Student-Athletes Named to 2013-14 NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Men’s Basketball) – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced its 2013-14 NABC Honors Court, recognizing the men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. A total of 19 Sunshine State Conference student-athletes from eight different institutions earned the prestigious honor.

10 SSC Teams, 72 Student-Athletes Receive ITA Academic Honors

SKILLMAN, N.J. (Men’s and Women’s Tennis) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2014 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Tuesday. The Sunshine State Conference represented nine ITA All-Academic Teams, including seven women’s and three men’s squads. Additionally, 72 SSC student-athletes were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.

SLU's Cothron, FSC's Sorensen Earn NCAA Division II Statistical Titles

INDIANAPOLIS (Men’s Lacrosse) – The final statistics for the 2014 NCAA Division II men’s lacrosse season were finalized on Wednesday with two Sunshine State Conference student-athletes earning statistical titles. Saint Leo’s Will Cothron took the title in face-off winning percentage, while Florida Southern’s Dane Sorensen claimed the top spot in goals per game.

Eleven SSC Swim Squads Receive CSCAA Spring Scholar All-America Team Honors

NORFOLF, Va. (Men’s and Women’s Swimming) – On Thursday, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its Spring 2014 CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams supported by Nike. The Sunshine State Conference had 11 of its 13 teams named to the lists, including six women’s teams and five men’s teams.

Stephen Frazier Wong Steps Down as NSU's Head Rowing Coach

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Women’s Rowing) – Nova Southeastern University Director of Athletics Michael Mominey announced today that Stephen Frazier Wong has announced his resignation as the head coach of NSU women's rowing to accept the head coaching role at Clemson University. A national search will begin immediately until filled.

Eckerd Hires Cristian Neagu as Next Men's Soccer Head Coach

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Men’s Soccer) – The Eckerd College athletics department has officially appointed Cristian Neagu as head coach of the men’s soccer program effective July 14.

Eckerd's Dr. Anthony Brunello Tabbed SSC's Candidate for NCAA Faculty Mentor Award

WINTER PARK, Fla. (Conference News) – Eckerd College Faculty Athletic Representative and Professor of Political Science Dr. Anthony Brunello has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference’s candidate for the NCAA Division II 2014 Dr. Dave Pariser Faculty Mentor Award. The NCAA faculty mentor award honors a faculty member at a Division II institution who has demonstrated dedication, support and guidance to student-athletes and the institution’s athletics program as a faculty member. Dr. Brunello was selected as the SSC’s candidate through a voting process conducted among one student-athlete (SAAC representative) from each of the nine member institutions.
