Ed Pasque, Commissioner

Ed Pasque was named as commissioner of the Sunshine State Conference on Jan. 1, 2014. Prior to joining the SSC, Pasque served as the Senior Associate Commissioner for External Affairs at the Atlantic 10 Conference in Newport News, Va. Pasque joined the Atlantic 10 in 2008, and while there, he managed the marketing, branding and multimedia rights partnerships and served as legal counsel for the league.
Prior to his position with the A-10, he was the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration at Northern Illinois University from 2006-08. He served Campbell University for three years as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services from 2003-06.
Pasque earned his juris doctorate degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2001. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Eckerd College in 1992. Between degrees, Pasque served in the United State Navy as a communications supervisor for the Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Eleven.
A native of Hazel Park, Mich., Pasque and his wife, Stacey, have three children: Ruby (12), Oliver (10) and Hazel (8).
Maryanne Simkulak, Assistant Commissioner (Membership Services)

Maryanne Simkulak began her duties as the SSC Assistant Commissioner for Membership Services on Jan. 4, 2010. She also assumed the designation of Senior Woman Administrator in July 2013.
In her role as assistant commissioner, Simkulak’s primary duties include oversight of the conference’s NCAA rules compliance program. Her daily responsibilities include providing rules interpretations and reviewing various eligibility paperwork submitted by member institutions. She also coordinates the National Letter of Intent and NCAA Coaches Certification programs. In addition to her compliance tasks, Simkulak serve as a liaison to the SSC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and helps promote and encourage community engagement activities on the campuses of the league’s nine member institutions.
Simkulak came to the SSC office after working in various roles at SSC member Barry University from August 2003 - December 2009. Beginning her tenure as an administrative graduate assistant, she was serving as an assistant director of athletics at the time of her departure to join the conference staff. As an assistant AD, she managed all facets of Barry’s compliance program, coordinated NCAA and SSC waivers, conducted rules education sessions with coaches, and processed all National Letters of Intent. She also served as advisor of Barry’s extremely active SAAC and coordinated athletic department special events such as the annual student-athlete banquet and National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
Simkulak resides in Orlando with her husband, Brian, and stepchildren Brittany, Brian, and Destiny.
Robert Brennecke, Assistant Commissioner (Strategic Communications) rbrennecke@sunshinestateconference.com
Robert Brennecke began as Assistant Commissioner in September of 2014. Prior to his appointment, Brennecke served the KCAC as the Assistant Commissioner for Operations and Sport Communications from 2011 to 2014. His focus was on championships, media relations, award programs, sports information and marketing.
Before his time with the KCAC, Brennecke held various administrative roles for the University of Oklahoma -- working as a Study Skills Supervisor for the Sooners Athletic Department, Student Conduct Specialist for the Office of Judicial Services and Graduate Assistant in Recreation & Fitness.
Brennecke, a 2010 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, obtained a Masters degree in Education with an emphasis on Intercollegiate Athletic Administration. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration from the University of Louisville.
A native of Belleville, Ill., Brennecke resides in Melbourne.
