(Conference News) – Eckerd College Faculty Athletic Representative and Professor of Political Science Dr. Anthony Brunello has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference’s candidate for the NCAA Division II 2014 Dr. Dave Pariser Faculty Mentor Award. The NCAA faculty mentor award honors a faculty member at a Division II institution who has demonstrated dedication, support and guidance to student-athletes and the institution’s athletics program as a faculty member. (Academic News) – A record number 958 student-athletes were named to the Sunshine State Conference Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2014 spring semester, it was announced Friday by Commissioner Ed Pasque. WINTER PARK, Fla. (Softball) – On April 26, Florida Southern’s senior pitcher Chelsea Oglevie and sophomore second baseman Leah Pemberton carried an injured Kara Oberer of Eckerd College around the bases after she hit a three-run home run to win the game. The act of sportsmanship was recognized by the SSC as Oglevie and Pemberton received the female SSC Sportsmanship Award, it was announced Thursday. Read the full story.
