SAAC Donation Competition
The Sunshine State Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee E.L.I.T.E donation competition completed its fourth year during the 2011-12 year. This initiative came together at the annual E.L.I.T.E weekend in September of 2008.
The concept of the competition is for each member institution’s SAAC to choose an organization to donate items to. Throughout the year, institutions counted and donated items and reported their counts. The goal was to have each institution get involved in their community and donate tangible items that would help that specific organization.
This year, six institutions participated in the competition. Barry University donated items to Camillus House, Florida Tech donated items to Genesis, Florida Southern College donated items to Talbot House Ministries, Lynn University doanted items to AnySoldier.com, Rollins College donated items to Orlando Christian Rescue Mission and Second Harvest Food Bank and Saint Leo University donated items to Catholic Charities of Dade City. The total number of items donated to the six organizations added up to 12,544 items.
This year's winner of the Sunshine State Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee E.L.I.T.E donation competition, donating 5,016 is Saint Leo University.
