2026 SSC Women's Golf Championship: Round 1 Recap

Nine nationally recognized squads tee off for the first round.

Founded in 1975, Sunshine State Conference member institutions have won a total of 138 NCAA national championships across 15 sports and boast an NCAA Division II leading 89% Academic Success Rate. In 2025-26, the SSC marks its 50th anniversary, reflecting on a proud history of athletic and academic excellence.
 

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — The 2026 Sunshine State Conference Women's Golf Championship, hosted by Eckerd College, began Sunday at Cabot Citrus Farms.

Nova Southeastern holds the team lead after 18 holes, paced by Maria Torres Lobato's round of 71. Lobato was the only golfer to finish under par in the opening round, carding six birdies. The Sharks also placed a second player inside the top three as Alexandra Remaklus sits tied for third after shooting a 73.

Lynn is one stroke back in second place after the opening round. The Fighting Knights placed two golfers inside the top five and three within the top 10, led by Emilia Koskinen's 73. Just two strokes separate first and third, with Rollins currently in third place. Sarah Knitter fired an even-par round and sits in second individually heading into Monday. Palm Beach Atlantic and Tampa round out the top five on the team leaderboard. Saint Leo and Florida Southern are tied for sixth, one stroke behind Tampa, while Barry and Embry-Riddle share eighth. Eckerd sits in 10th place.

Round two is scheduled to begin Monday at 10 a.m.
