ALL-SSC Women's Basketball Selections for 2018-19
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Southern College, Sunshine State Conference regular-season champion, boasts five All-SSC awards including Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. In all, 16 women’s basketball student-athletes earn All-SSC recognition following the 2018-19 season.
Camille Giardina of Florida Southern is named SSC Player of the Year. The senior from Sarasota, Florida helped lead the Moccasins to a 25-3 overall record in 2018-19 by averaging an SSC-leading 19.1 points per game. Giardina, a 5-7 guard, is Top-5 in SSC scoring (517), rebounds (250), field goal percentage (.479), free throw percentage (.795), steals (53), and minutes played per game (28.0). She becomes the seventh Moccasin to be named Player of the Year and is the second consecutive winner from FSC’s program

Florida Southern’s Betsy Harris repeats as Coach of the Year
2. Harris piloted the Moccasins to the program’s 14th
2 SSC regular season championship, second consecutive, following an 18-2 record in league play. Under Harris, the Florida Southern Moccasins led the league in scoring margin (20.3), points per game (77.3), and turnover margin (5.96)
3. This marks the third time Harris has been chosen SSC Coach of the Year by her peers

Carly McLendon of Rollins College is named Defensive Player of the Year following a season in which she led the conference in blocks (61) and blocks per game (2.3). Additionally, the senior forward led Rollins in rebounds per game (8.4), points per game (9.6), and minutes per game (27.0). This is the second Defensive Player of the Year honor for McLendon, and the fourth time the award has gone to Rollins

Dori Nagy from the University of Tampa earns Newcomer of the Year honors after leading the conference in total rebounds (246) and rebounds per game (9.1). The Pecs, Hungary native also finished second in the conference in field goal percentage (0.502) during the regular season. The sophomore forward led the Spartans in rebounding and was second on the team in total points (378) and points per game (14.0). She is the second athlete from Tampa to win the award

Joining Giardina on the First Team is her teammate Anja Fuchs-Robetin as well as Staja Tyghter (Tampa), Dori Nagy (Tampa), and Chelsea Johnson (Eckerd College). Giardina has represented Florida Southern on the First Team three years in a row, while Fuchs-Robetin also repeats from last year. Tyghter moves up from the Second Team and Newcomer Team to earn First Team accolades this season. Lauren Ellenberger (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University) and Alison Hughes (Nova Southeastern University) repeat as Second Team award winners from 2017-18. Christen Prasse (Nova Southeastern) earned Second Team honors in 2016-17, while Nikki Tucker (Embry-Riddle) was crowned Newcomer of the Year last season.
