ESPN3 to Stream SSC Basketball Championship Finals

Live from Nova Southeastern University on March 10th

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announces a partnership with NCAA Division II for live ESPN3 coverage of the league's 2019 men’s and women’s basketball championship games. Both contests will take place on Sunday, March 10th on the campus of Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. Women will tip-off at 1:05 PM, while the men will play at 4:05 PM in Rick Case Arena at the Don Taft University Center.

As part of the NCAA Division II’s media rights package Niles Media Group will fully produce the SSC men’s and women’s basketball tournament finals and distributed the content on ESPN3. The SSC’s foray into the ESPN family of networks came in March 2015 when ESPN3 carried the league’s basketball tournament championship games.
 
Nova Southeastern men and Florida Southern College women claimed the 2018-19 SSC regular season championships. It is the first title in program history for the Sharks men's program, while the Moccasins women's team won its 14th overall title, second consecutive.
 
Nova Southeastern, Florida Southern, and Lynn University currently hold the Top-3 positions in the men's basketball south region rankings, followed by Eckerd College at No. 5 and Barry University at No. 10. On the women's side, FSC paces the region, the University of Tampa sits in fifth, and Eckerd ranks sixth. Nova Southeastern and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University also represent the SSC as No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.

Founded in 1975, the Sunshine State Conference has risen from a single sports organization to the Division II "Conference of National Champions." Since its inception, the conference has shown steady growth in sports played, membership, and national prominence. Member institutions have won a total of 106 NCAA national championships across 12 sports, including men's soccer and women's volleyball in Fall 2018. During the 2017-18 academic year, SSC schools achieved an NCAA Division II-best 86% Academic Success Rate
