Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
Katie McKiel / University of Tampa / Jr. / Outside Hitter / Colorado Springs, Colorado
McKiel repeats as Offensive Player of the Week, her fourth honor this season, by leading the Spartans to a pair of SSC wins. In a five-set victory against Saint Leo University, McKiel recorded her seventh double-double of the season as she picked up 29 kills and 16 digs. Her 29 kills were a career-high and the most for any Spartans player since the 2007 season. The Colorado Springs, Colorado product added 13 kills in the three-set victory over Rollins College. For the week, McKiel averaged 5.25 kills and 2.38 digs per set.
Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Jenna Bishop / Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University / Fr. / Middle Blocker / Fayetteville, Georgia
Bishop totaled 20 blocks across three road conference games to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors. The Fayetteville, Georgia native's top game of the week came in a 3-1 loss at Lynn University, where she posted nine block assists and a solo block. She followed with seven block assists in a 3-2 win at Nova Southeastern University. For the week, Bishop averaged 1.67 blocks per set while adding seven kills and six digs to her stat sheet.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Biatriz Souza Berti / Lynn University / Sr. / Setter / São Paulo, Brazil
Souza Berti grabs Setter of the Week honors following 12.4 assists per set through three Lynn victories this week. The Brazilian started her week with 35 assists in a 3-0 win at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Her breakout performance came in a 3-1 win against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she posted a new career-high of 55 assists. In a 3-0 win over Florida Tech, Souza Berti added 34 assists as Lynn pushed its conference winning streak to five matches. For the week, she tallied 124 assists, 29 digs, six blocks, two kills, and a service ace.
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Michael Landau / Rollins College / Jr. / Midfielder / Miami, Florida
Landau takes Offensive Player of the Week honors with three points in Rollins' upset victory over No. 6 Florida Tech. Down 1-0 in the second half, Landau scored the equalizer in the 76th minute from a Logan Laskey assist. In overtime, the Miami native assisted Georgios Koliniatis' game-winner in the 99th minute completing the upset of the Panthers.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Jake Richards / University of Tampa / Sr. / Goalkeeper / Bedworth, England
Richards is awarded Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Tampa's two conference wins last week. The Englishman made four saves and allowed one goal in the Spartans' 3-1 win at Saint Leo University. Richards followed with a clean sheet and six saves in a 1-0 victory against Rollins College. His 61 saves this season places him first among conference goalkeepers. Richards is the first Spartan to be named Defensive Player of the Week in men's soccer since October 20th, 2014 (Zak Downes).
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Meghan Mosley / Rollins College / So. / Midfielder / Ormond Beach, Florida
Mosley is honored as Offensive Player of the Week with a goal and an assist for the Tars last week. The sophomore from Ormond Beach, Florida, scored the first and game-winning goal in a 3-0 Rollins win at Florida Tech. Mosley then assisted Kathryn O'Brien in the Tars' first goal in a 2-1 victory against the University of Tampa. With the play of Mosley, the Tars remain undefeated in SSC play.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Sophie Brundin / Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University / Sr. / Defender / Sundsvall, Sweden
Brundin earns Defensive Player of the Week accolades following her efforts in ERAU's 1-0-1 week. The Swede anchored the Eagles' back line in all 200 minutes of play this past week as they defeated Palm Beach Atlantic University 3-1 and tied Lynn University 1-1 in Boca Raton. Against the Fighting Knights, Brundin scored the Eagles lone goal, which came in the 49th minute off a Marie Seim assist. With the play of Brundin, ERAU picks up four points in the conference standings and currently sits tied for second place.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Toto Gana / Lynn University / Sr. / Santiago, Chile
Gana closed out the fall season with a second-place individual finish at the Miami Intercollegiate. The Chilean carded rounds of 67-69-68 for a six-under-par 204. Gana's finish marks the second Top-10 performance of the season and 19th of his career, tying him with Mateo Gomez for most in program history. With the play of Gana, the Lynn men's golf program earned its 53rd victory and has extended its yearly winning streak to 11 seasons.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Laila Forstmane / Eckerd College / Jr. / Carnikava, Latvia
Forstmane becomes Golfer of the Week for the second time in her career with a third-place performance at the Flagler Fall Slam at Marsh Creek Country Club. The Carnikava, Latvia native, shot 2-under in the first round, missing her career-low by one stroke. She followed with a 3-over in the final round to finish in a tie at 1-over (145) with Minori Nagano of Seminole State College.
Men's Swimmer of the Week
Brett Saunders / University of Tampa / Sr. / Newark, Delaware
Saunders was a workhorse for the Spartans in a pair of dual-meet victories over SSC opponents Florida Southern College and Rollins College. The Newark, Delaware product was part of the winning 400 Medley Relay and later took the top spot in the 100 Breast (58.39) and the 200 Breast (2:09.29), while also finishing third in the 400 IM (4:11.16) against No. 16 FSC. Saunders returned to the pool in Saturday's home opener against the Tars, winning the 200 Back (1:53.04) and finishing second in the 200 Breast (2:10.58). The weekly award is the second of his career.
Women's Swimmer of the Week
Sasha Maslova / Nova Southeastern University / So. / Moscow, Russia
Maslova picks up her second Swimmer of the Week accolade in 2019-20 with her performance in a 147-58 dual meet win over Lynn University. The Russian was a member of the 200 medley relay who earned a first-place finish in 1:45.94. In the 400 IM, she grabbed first with an NCAA B-Cut time of 4:27.32. Maslova also went on to win the 100 fly in 56.59, just missing a second provisional qualifying time.
