Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
Sam Wolf / Palm Beach Atlantic University / Fr. / Outside Hitter / Cincinnati, Ohio
Wolf led Palm Beach Atlantic to two key wins this week, including a victory against No. 24 Barry University. The Cincinnati, Ohio native started the week with a team-high 19 kills and a .386 hitting percentage against the Buccaneers. She also provided her team with seven digs, two service aces, and a block. Wolf followed with another efficient performance on Friday against Rollins College. The freshman hit .522 from the outside with 14 kills in a sweep against the Tars. In total, Wolf averaged 4.7 kills per set this week as the main focus of the Sailfish attack.
Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Sammy Mueller / University of Tampa / Sr. / Setter / Gainesville, Florida
Mueller served as the catalyst for the Spartans offense in two road conference victories last week. During a four-set win at Florida Tech, Mueller finished the game with a 37-assist / 19-dig double-double. The Gainesville, Florida product followed with another double-double, this time recording 38 assists and 13 digs in four sets at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The weekly award is the third of her career.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Alyssa Rudd / Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University / Sr. / Setter / Tallahassee, Florida
Rudd is awarded Setter of the Week for the second time this season after totaling 104 assists, 28 digs, and seven kills in two SSC games last week. The Tallahassee, Florida native opened the week with a season-high 57 assists to go along with 12 digs and four kills in a 3-2 win over Saint Leo University. Rudd followed up with 47 assists and season-high 16 digs as the Eagles fell to the University of Tampa in four sets. She sits atop the SSC leaderboard with 11.63 assists/set. The weekly award is the fourth of her career.
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Federico Toschi / Saint Leo University / Jr. / Forward / Genova, Italy
Toschi tallied a pair of goals and an assist in the Lions’ wins against Rollins College and Barry University last week. Thirty-eight seconds into double overtime at Rollins College, Toschi assisted on Dylan Moriera’s game-winner. The Italian then scored in the 27th minute and 52nd minute as Saint Leo defeated Barry 2-1. Toschi finishes the week with five points and leads the Lions this season with 12 total.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Lynden Dawson / Eckerd College / Fr. / Goalkeeper / Conyers, Georgia
Dawson takes Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting a clean sheet in midweek action against No. 5 Florida Tech. The Conyers, Georgia product fended off 17 shots while turning back all five shots on goal. Following the draw, Dawson lowered his goals-against average to 0.83 this season. Dawson is the first Triton to be named Player of the Week in men's soccer since October 5th, 2015 (Alex Gott).
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Kathryn O’Brien / Rollins College / Sr. / Forward / West Springfield, Massachusetts
O'Brien earns her second Offensive Player of the Week accolade this season following six points across two SSC wins. The West Springfield, Massachusetts native opened the week with two unassisted goals in a 3-1 win at Saint Leo University. O'Brien followed up with an unassisted goal during a 2-0 win at Palm Beach Atlantic University. The weekly award is the fourth of her career.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Isabelle Navren / Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University / Fr. / Defender / Stockholm, Sweden
Navren earns Defensive Player of the Week accolades following her efforts in ERAU's shutout of Eckerd College last week. The Swede led an Eagles defense that held Eckerd to just three shots and one shot on goal during the contest. Navren also assisted on Embry-Riddle's third and fourth goals, which came in the 58th minute and 62nd minute, respectively.
Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Mason Jones / Florida Southern College / Jr. / Titusville, Florida
Jones earns his second weekly award this season following a school record in the 8K. The Titusville, Florida native's time of 24:14.5 led the Florida Southern to an 11th place team finish at the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte on Saturday. Jones, seventh place overall, was the first runner from the region and the fifth from Division II to cross the finish line. The weekly award is the sixth of his career.
Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Zoe Jarvis / University of Tampa / Jr. / Tampa, Florida
Jarvis takes Runner of the Week honors for the third time this season following her performance at the Florida State Invitational. Jarvis finished as the top Division II runner and sixth overall in a race that featured a field of 228 runners and multiple Division I programs. The Tampa native finished with a time of 17:56.3 in the 5000-meter race, leading the Spartans to a third-place overall finish and first-place showing among non-Division I schools. The weekly award is the fifth of her career.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
AJ Ewart / Barry University / Fr. / Coquitlam, British Columbia
Ewart takes Golfer of the Week honors following the individual title at the Golfweek DII Fall Invitational in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida. Ewart shot back-to-back rounds of 68 (4-under) to finish four shots ahead of Elis Svard of Cal State University - Monterey Bay. The freshman from Coquitlam, British Columbia, led the field in Par 4 and Par 5 scoring during the tournament. With the play of Ewart, the Buccaneers took the team title by five strokes over Lee University.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Francesca Santoni / Saint Leo University / Jr. / Torbole sul Garda, Italy
Santoni picked up her first career win with a six-stroke victory at the Golfweek DII Fall Invite, which featured seven Top-25 teams. The Italian led wire-to-wire at the tournament with a 68 (4-under) first round and a 72 (even) second-round for a two-round total of 140 (4-under). With the play of Santoni, the Lions erase a 10-stroke deficit after round one to take home the team title by one stroke over No. 1 Dallas Baptist University. Saint Leo turned in a team score of 294 (+6) for the second round to jump from third to first to end the tournament.
Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Magnus Poulsen / Nova Southeastern University / Jr. / Albertslund, Denmark
Poulsen is named Swimmer of the Week after helping Nova Southeastern to a first-place finish in the 2019 Shark Invitational. The Dane led the Sharks to victories in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay. He also won the 100 fly with a time of 49.81. The weekly award is the third of his career.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Sasha Maslova / Nova Southeastern University / So. / Moscow, Russia
Maslova takes Swimmer of the Week after being awarded the Michael D. Fish Women's High Point Award winner at the 2019 Shark Invitational. The Russian helped lead NSU to a first-place team finish with her performances in the 200 medley, 400 freestyle, and the 400 medley relays, which all finished in first place. Maslova also picked up individual wins in the 200 butterfly (2:04.19), the 400 IM (4:29.66 - NCAA B Cut), and the 100 butterfly (56.42).
