Six Meet Records Fall on Opening Night

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The 2018 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships started with a bang Thursday at the very fast Long Center in Clearwater. A total of two conference records and six meet records fell at the first night finals.
 
Nova Southeastern enjoyed a fantastic start to the championship and lead both men’s and women’s field. The Sharks racked up 220.5 points on the women’s side with Tampa (173.5) sitting second and Florida Southern (131) third. NSU holds a 105-183 edge on second place Florida Southern in the men’s division with Florida Tech (123) in third.

Top Performances:
Florida Southern’s Matthew Holmes set a conference record in the 200-yard IM in a time of 1:46.28. NSU’s 200-yard medley relay team of Courtney DeVeny, Malin Westman, Jenna Johns and Sydney Panzarino posted a new SSC record time of 1:40.31.
