2016-17 Sunshine State Conference Annual Report
SSC 2016-17 Included Three National Championships, Six Individual Titles, and Nine Individual Awards
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference presents its 2016-17 annual report, which illustrates the continuing academic and athletic excellence of the nine-member league.
Academically, the SSC leads all NCAA Division II Conferences with an Academic Success Rate of 86%, as announced by the NCAA in January of 2017. Additionally, the Commissioner's Honor roll saw a record 1674 student-athletes reach a 3.2-grade point average and 24 individuals reached the CoSIDA Academic All-American ranks.
Athletically, three SSC teams won NCAA Division II National Championships, bringing the conference’s total to 102 in its 42-year history. The SSC also boasts six individual NCAA DII National Champions, 129 All-Americans, and 23 National Players of the Week.
The report highlights the SSC's leadership development initiatives such as the SSC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee leadership weekend and the Professional Women in College Sports Forum. It also documents the league's commitment to NCAA rules education as well as the great work by conference coaches and staff members.
