Baseball Player of the Week
Austin Mauer / Florida Southern College / Jr. / Catcher / Orlando, Florida
Mauer earns Player of the Week honors after leading Florida Southern offensively in four wins last week. Mauer recorded a .471 BA / .500 OB% / 1.118 Slugging slash line across the four-games for FSC. The Orlando native went 8-for-17 with four runs scored and nine RBI. In a three-game series against SSC provisional member and 20-game winners, Palm Beach Atlantic, Mauer batted 7-for-13 (.538) with five extra base hits, including two doubles and three home runs for a 1.385 slugging percentage. His top game of the week was a 4-for-5 effort against PBA with five RBI's and two runs scored. Following the 4-0 for the week, the Moccasins are now 25-6 and have won 17 consecutive games.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Nate Greve / Barry University / Sr. / Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Greve has been selected as the Pitcher of the Week following his performance against No. 16 Nova Southeastern. In game two of a three-game series against the Sharks, Greve gave up just three hits in seven innings of work as the Buccaneers blanked the Sharks, 12-0, on Saturday. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native struck out six batters and walked two while holding opposing hitters to a .120 batting average. Barry is now 16-18 overall, 3-6 in SSC Play.
Softball Player of the Week
Leanne Wright / Lynn University / Jr. / Outfield / Orange Park, Florida
Wright is named Player of the Week after leading the Fighting Knights to a pair of series victories by logging four multi-hit games in competition against Palm Beach Atlantic and Eckerd. Wright’s top game came at the beginning of the week with a 3-for-4 performance that included three RBI, a home run, and a run scored in a victory against Palm Beach Atlantic. For the week, the Orange Park, Florida native hit .600 (12-for-20), drove in six runs, and scored four times while recording a .636 on-base percentage and .750 slugging percentage. With the play of Wright, Lynn is now 22-14 overall and 9-6 in league play.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Stephanie Adkins / Saint Leo University / Sr. / Orlando, Florida
Adkins takes Pitcher of the Week after picking up two conference victories over Barry last week. The Orlando product pitched 14 innings for Saint Leo, giving up 11 hits and just two runs for a 1.00 ERA. Adkins threw a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits, in the series finale and ending her weekend with two complete games and one shutout. Adkins recorded four strikeouts and held the Buccaneers to a .234 batting average. With Adkins’ two wins, Saint Leo improves to 31-7 overall and 12-3 in league play. The weekly award is the fourth of her career.
Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Conor Whipple / University of Tampa / Sr. / Attack / Tampa, Florida
Whipple has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after recording 11 points against RV Lynn. The Tampa native tallied four goals and dished out seven assists as the Spartans defeated the Fighting Knights, 18-7. Whipple also picked up a ground ball on the defensive side as UT improves to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in league play. The weekly award is Whipple’s 10th of his career.
Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Ty Wedekind / Rollins College / So. / Goalkeeper / Ellicott City, Maryland
Defensive Player of the Week, Wedekind, earned his first start of the season for Rollins and made it count. The Ellicott City, Maryland native helped the Tars hold No. 19 Saint Leo to just one goal in each quarter as Rollins upset their SSC rivals by a final score of 6-4 on Saturday evening. Wedekind made nine saves on the day, including five in the first quarter, to help Rollins cage the Lions, who rank third in Division II in scoring offense. Wedekind's nine saves and five ground balls mark a career high in both categories. Rollins is now 6-5 overall and 1-1 in SSC play.
Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week
Sam Watts / University of Tampa / Jr. / Faceoff / Buffalo, New York
Watts is named Specialist of the Week for the fourth time this season, second consecutive after going 14-of-24 (.583) in the circle against RV Lynn. Watts also picked up five ground balls during the 18-7 victory over the Fighting Knights. The Buffalo, New York native is currently ranked No. 14 in the NCAA for face-off win percentage. Tampa is now 9-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play
