Baseball Player of the Week
J.D. Osborne / University of Tampa / Sr. / 3B / C / Whitby, Ontario
Osborne takes Player of the Week for a fourth time this season after leading Tampa to a series win against No. 15 Florida Southern. Osborne recorded a .417 BA / .533 OB% / .917 Slugging slash line against the Moccasins by going 5-12 at the plate. The Whitby, Ontario native tallied six runs, four RBI, three walks, and two home runs. Osborne's top game was the last in the series, where he went 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBI, three runs scored. With the play of Osborne, Tampa improves to 29-11 overall and 15-3 in SSC play.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Luis Deville / Barry University / Sr. / Miami, Florida
Deville is named Pitcher of the Week after earning a win in Barry's 6-1 victory over Rollins. The Miami native tossed a 9.0 inning, complete game to earn his third win of the season. The right hander allowed five hits and one run (earned) in the outing. Deville held the 31 batters he faced to a .172 batting average while he struck out six and walked one. Barry is now 21-23 overall and 8-10 in SSC play.
Softball Player of the Week
Jasmine Harris / Barry University / Sr. / First Base / Miami, Florida
Harris hit safely in all five Barry games this past week to take Player of the Week honors. She tallied nine RBI, eight runs, five extra-base hits, and three walks as the Buccaneers went 3-2 against Keiser and Rollins. The Miami native had a total of nine hits in 18 at bats for a .500 batting average, while slugging 1.000. Harris tallied three hits, including a 12th inning walk-off, to beat Rollins in game 1 of the doubleheader on Saturday. She then went 3-for-4 four in the following game as the Buccaneers dropped the game to the Tars. Following a winning week, Barry moves to 22-26 overall and 10-14 in SSC play.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Nikole Van Gennep / Eckerd College / So. / Mokena, Illinois
Van Gennep closed Eckerd's home schedule with two outstanding performances against No. 23 Tampa to capture Pitcher of the Week honors. On Friday, Van Gennep tossed a one-hitter while striking out six in a 1-0 shutout win. The Mokena, Illinois native also earned the win in Saturday's finale allowing just five hits and fanning six while giving up two earned runs. Eckerd is now 19-30 overall, 8-16 in league play.
Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Cody Martin / Florida Tech / Sr. / Attack / Middletown, Maryland
Martin has been named the Offensive Player of the Week after he led the Florida Tech in a win over RV Rollins 12-8 to secure the No. 2 seed in the SSC Championship. The Middletown, Maryland native had four shots on goal and scored each time including a man-up goal. Martin also caused a turnover and picking up a ground ball in the Panther victory. Florida Tech finishes the regular season 7-6 and 3-2 in conference play..
Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Collin McClelland / Lynn University / Fr. / Goalkeeper / Ellicott, Maryland
McClelland earns the Defensive Player of the Week award after he matched his career-best 66.7 save percentage in goal against Florida Southern. The Ellicott, Maryland native helped his team clinch a playoff berth as they took down the Moccasins 11-8 on Saturday. The Freshman made 16 saves on the 44 shots he faced and also picked up two ground balls. The Fighting Knights finish the regular season 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week
Dryden Brous / Lynn University / Fr. / Faceoff / Ocean City, Maryland
Brous is awarded his fourth Specialist Player of the Week, third consecutive, after going 15-of-20 (75 percent) in the faceoff X during the playoff clinching 11-8 victory over Florida Southern. The Ocean City, Maryland native also picked up a game-high eight ground balls and recorded his fourth assist in the last three games. The freshman has an average of 16 faceoff wins and nine ground balls over the final three games of the regular season. The Fighting Knights finish the regular season with an overall record of 6-6 and 2-3 in conference play.
