Baseball Player of the Week
J.D. Osborne / University of Tampa / Sr. / 3B / C / Whitby, Ontario
Osborne takes Player of the Week for a third time this season after leading Tampa to a series sweep against No. 3 Nova Southeastern. Osborne recorded a .533 BA / .500 OB% / 1.200 Slugging slash line against the Sharks by going 8-15 at the plate. The Whitby, Ontario native tallied nine RBI, five runs, three home runs, and a walk. Osborne’s top game was the last in the series, where he went 4-for-6 at the plate with three RBI, two runs scored, and a homerun. With the play of Osborne, Tampa improves to 19-5 overall and 8-1 in SSC play.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
David Lebron / University of Tampa / Jr. / Homestead, Florida
Lebron is named Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, second consecutive, after earning a win in Tampa’s 6-0 victory over No. 3 Nova Southeastern. The Homestead, Florida native tossed 8.0 innings and allowed eight hits. Lebron held the 32 batters he faced to a .250 batting average while he struck out four and walked none during the win. Tampa improves to 19-5 overall and 8-1 in SSC play.
Softball Player of the Week
Alexus Smith / Florida Tech / So. / 3B / Palm Bay, Florida
Smith has been named the Softball Player of the Week after hitting .550 across five games for Florida Tech. The Palm Bay, Florida native was responsible for multiple hits in four games, including two three-hit games, as the Panthers went 4-1 this week. Smith’s top game was a 2-for-3 effort against Palm Beach Atlantic in which she drove in three runs, scored twice, and hit a homerun. The third baseman had a weekly on-base average of .550 while slugging 1.050. Six of Smith’s 11 hits went for extra bases. She also drove in 10 runs and scored four times as Florida Tech improve to 16-17 overall.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Lexie Storrer / Nova Southeastern University / Fr. / Olathe, Kansas
Storrer is selected as Pitcher of the Week following four complete-game victories and a 0.75 earned run average this past week. The Olathe, Kansas native tossed 28.0 innings allowing three runs (all earned) on 22 hits while holding opponents to a .212 batting average. Storrer struck out 30 batters and allowed four walks. Her top game was an eight-inning shutout against Bemidji State where she struck out 11 and walked none. On the offensive side, Storrer had a batting average of .360 over eight games. She tallied five runs, six RBI, three doubles, and a triple. The Sharks are now 17-16 overall.
Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Jake Gilmour / Saint Leo University / Jr. / Attack / Pickering, Ontario
Gilmour finished the week with 12 points on four goals and eight assists to earn Offensive Player of the Week. The junior averaged 6.0 points per game as the Lions went 2-0 over the week. He also added three ground balls and one caused turnover. Against UAH, Gilmour finished with eight points as he dished out six assists and added two goals. He also added a ground ball. In the Lions win over NGU, Gilmour led the team with four points as he tallied two goals and two assists. He also picked up two ground balls and added a caused turnover. Gilmour leads the SSC in points per game (5.75), and assists per game (3.13), both which are top 10 in the nation. He is fourth in assists per game in all of Division II, and sixth in points per game.
Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Thomas Tatarian / Saint Leo University / So. / Goalkeeper / Shoreham, New York
Tatarian picked up a two-win week in goal for Saint Leo on his way to a second Defensive Player of the Week honor. Tatarian and the Lions topped both Alabama-Huntsville and North Greenville. In the Lions 21-3 win over UAH, Tatarian finished with 12 saves and only allowed two goals in 45 minutes of action. He finished with a 85.7-save percentage against the Chargers. In the Lions 9-7 win over NGU, the sophomore snagged a career-high 16 saves with a 69.6 save percentage. He finished with 28 saves on the week, and a 75.7-save percentage while adding two GBS. He faced a total of 53 shots, and only allowed nine total goals in two games.
Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week
Lance Pavlina / Florida Tech / Jr. / Faceoff Desert Vista, Arizona
Pavlina is named Specialist of the Week after posting an .789 winning percentage in faceoffs during the week after going 15-of-19 against Notre Dame de Namur. The Desert Vista, Arizona native went also recording a season high 13 ground balls as the Panthers captured a 22-6 victory over Notre Dame de Namur. After three consecutive victories, the Panthers are 4-4 on the season.
