Folsom was awarded her second Player of the Week award after helping the Tritons claim their first regular season championship and a No. 1 seed in the SSC Tournament. The Deltona, Florida native scored 14 points and pulled in seven rebounds in Eckerd’s, 64-40, win over Saint Leo. In a battle for the regular season championship against Florida Southern, Folsom scored a game-high 21 points and pulled in a game-high nine rebounds as the Tritons defeated the Moccasins, 68-63, to capture the league title. The Tritons finished off their regular season 23-4 overall and 16-2 in SSC play.
Baseball Player of the Week
Tyler Curtis / Lynn University / Sr. / 3B / Newburgh, New York
Curtis receives Player of the Week honors after leading Lynn in a three-game sweep over No. 16 Florida Southern. In the first game of the series, Curtis went 5-for-5 at the plate with four RBI, two runs scored, a homerun and a double. The Newburgh, New York product continued to be perfect at the plate in game two as he went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, three walks, and two doubles. Curtis also swiped two bases on two attempts in the first two games of the series. The senior wrapped up the series with a 2-for-4 performance that included two RBIs, two doubles, and a run scored. For the week, Curtis recorded a .833 BA / .867 OB% / 1.500 Slugging slash line against the Moccasins with 10 hits, seven runs scored, six RBI, six extra base hits, three walks, and two stolen bases. Lynn is now 10-4 on the season and 3-0 in the SSC.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
David Lebron / University of Tampa / Jr. / Homestead, Florida
Lebron is named Pitcher of the Week after earning a win in Tampa’s 15-1 victory at Barry. The Homestead, Florida native tossed 7.0 innings and allowed one run (earned) on just three hits. Lebron held the 25 batters he faced to a .125 batting average while he struck out 11 and walked just one during the road victory. Tampa improves to 9-3 overall and are 2-1 in SSC play.
Softball Player of the Week
Samantha Ohmie / Saint Leo University / Sr. / Inf. / Simi Valley, California
Ohmie helped the Lions to a sweep of SSC provisional member Embry-Riddle Friday and Saturday after going 6-for-10 in the series with two home runs and six RBI. In the first game on Saturday, Ohmie blasted a two-run homer in the first inning before hitting a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Lions went on for a 3-2 win. Ohmie finished the weekend going 7-13 from the plate with three runs scored, six RBI, two home runs and 13 total bases on a 1.000% slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage. The Lions first baseman finished errorless over four games on the weekend for a 1.000% fielding percentage where Saint Leo wrapped up the weekend with a 3-1 record falling in a one game to No. 4 North Georgia 3-1 Sunday. Saint Leo is now 15-4 on the season.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Makaleigh Dooley / University of Tampa / So. / Tampa, Florida
Dooley earns her second Pitcher of the Week award after posting two wins for Tampa against Florida Tech. The Tampa native pitched a complete game shutout on Friday as the Spartans won, 2-0. Dooley had five strikeouts and two walks in the effort, giving up just one hit across all seven innings of work. In the second win, the sophomore pitched 6.1 innings giving up just one run on four hits and striking out three more batters with just two walks. With the play of Dooley, the Spartans move to 11-2 and 5-1 in SSC play.
Hogan is named the Defensive Player of the Week after helping secure a Top-20 victory for Rollins. Hogan faced 33 shots and tallied 11 total saves in the Tars’ come-from-behind victory against No. 19 UIndy. The Westwood, Massachusetts native had a .579 save percentage during the 63 minutes he was in front of the net. The Tars are now 3-1 on the season.
Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week
Sam Watts / University of Tampa / Jr. / Midfield / Buffalo, New York
Watts earns his second Specialist of the Week award after his play against No. 2 Limestone. Watts won 14-of-26 faceoffs as Tampa fell, 12-10, to the powerful Limestone squad. The Buffalo, New York native grabbed three ground balls in the losing effort. Tampa is now 3-2 overall on the season.
