Fifty-Five SSC Swimmers, 43 Relay Teams Qualify for NCAA Division II Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - On Wednesday, February 22nd, the NCAA announced the list of athletes that have qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships. This year's championship will be held March 8th - 11th at CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. A total of 55 Sunshine State Conference swimmers will compete at the national meet.

Of the student-athletes representing the SSC, 29 are male and 26 are female. Forty-three relay teams also qualified for the 2017 championships.

Nova Southeastern leads the league with 16 (7 male / 9 female) qualifying swimmers. Florida Southern is second with 14 (10 male / 4 female) swimmers who qualified to compete. Next is Tampa with 11 qualifiers (5 male / 6 female). Saint Leo had a total of five qualifiers (2 male / 3 female). Florida Tech had a total of five male qualifiers and Lynn and Rollins will both send two female qualifiers.

The 2017 SSC Championship Swimmers of the Meet, Frando Lupoli (NSU) and Courtney (DeVeny), have qualified to swim in four events. Thiago Sickert (NSU), Marco Aldabe (NSU), Emma Wahlstrom (NSU), and Mckenzie Street (UT) have also qualified to swim in four events. Seven athletes have qualified for three events, they are: Marco Palacios (FSC), Victor Furtado Rocha (FIT), Blake Woodrow (NSU), Malin Westman (NSU), Natalia Garriock (SLU), Annie Lindstrom (SLU), and Sophie Long (UT).
