MELBOURNE, Fla. - For the first time since 2005-06, Lynn University captured the men’s division of the Sunshine State Conference Mayors’ Cup all-sports trophy. This marks the third Mayors’ Cup for the Fighting Knights.

First presented following the 1986-87 academic year, the award was traditionally sponsored by the Mayors of the nine communities in which SSC member institutions are located.

“Congratulations to President Dr. Kevin Ross, athletic director Kristen Migliano and the entire Lynn Athletic Department and student-athlete community on an outstanding academic year,” stated SSC Commissioner Ed Pasque.

In the men’s division, points are awarded based on final regular-season conference standings in baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and tennis*. Points are awarded based on a team’s finish at their respective conference championship event for cross country, golf, and swimming.

Lynn won the regular season in soccer and the conference tournament in golf, which tallied 18 of their year end total of 39.5 points. The Fighting Knights also finished tied for second in the regular season for lacrosse and finished third in basketball, tennis, and baseball.

Florida Southern College and Saint Leo University tied for second place with 37 points. The Moccasins finished first in basketball and swimming. They also tied for third in lacrosse, were runners-up in cross country, and took third at the SSC golf tournament. The Lions won the SSC cross country championship and picked up second place points for soccer and tennis.
