2015 All-SSC Men’s Soccer Team Announced
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Twenty-three student-athletes are recognized as ALL-SSC for the 2015 season. Chris Hellmann repeats as Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. The Eckerd Tritons boast Defensive player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, while Saint Leo’s Keith Fulk is awarded Coach of the Year. Voting for the team was conducted among the league’s men’s soccer coaches.
Chris Hellmann of Lynn University repeats a Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the year by conference coaches, as well as first team all-conference. The Cologne, Germany native scored 15 goals and assisted on 12 others in 13 regular season games.
Since the Offensive Player of the Year award was reinstated in 2001, Hellmann is the second student-athlete to win both awards multiple times (Tyler Blackwood; Tampa). Hellmann is the fourth athlete to win player of the year multiple times (Tyler Blackwood, Tampa; Henrik Nebrelius, Tampa; Richard Sharpe, Florida Tech).
Eckerd College’s Alex Gott was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year. The Goalkeeper tallied six shutouts for the Tritons. Westleigh Rush of Eckerd was named Freshman of the Year. Rush provided Eckerd with nine points from the midfielder position this season.
Keith Fulk was selected Coach of the Year by his peers. Fulk guided Saint Leo to its third SSC Championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. This is Fulk’s fourth SSC Coach of the Year honor, second with the Lions.
Maximiliam Schulz-Geisthovel (Saint Leo) and Tosan Popo (Rollins) repeat as First Team All-SSC Selections for the third straight year. Hellman and Adin Kavara (Florida Tech) repeat for the second consecutive year.
