Barry's Teixeira and Lynn's Redwine Tabbed as Volleyball Players of the Week

Barry's Julia Teixeira and Lynn's Lacy Redwine have been recognized as Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Players of the Week for the period ending October 24.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK --  Barry senior OH Julia Teixeira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) led the Buccaneers to a pair of SSC road victories, averaging 5.2 kills, 1.9 digs, 0.6 blocks, 0.4 assists, and 0.4 aces per match.  Teixeira opened the week with 30 kills, nine digs, three service aces, and two blocks in a five-set victory over Saint Leo.  With her team losing the first two sets, Teixeira tallied 18 kills in the final three frames to power the Buccaneers to the win.  Seven of her 18 came in the decisive fifth set.  She rounded out the week with 17 kills, eight digs, two assists, a service ace, and three blocks in a sweep at Eckerd.  For the week, Teixeira posted a .333 attack percentage.        

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Lynn senior L Lacy Redwine (New Braunfels, Texas) averaged 7.3 digs per set to help the Fighting Knights secure a pair of conference wins.  She began the week with 26 digs in a four-set victory over Rollins.  She then notched 25 digs in a three-set sweep versus Florida Southern.  Her defensive prowess helped Lynn hold its SSC foes to a .234 hitting percentage.
