Eckerd's Sheekey and Tampa's Thompson Garner Men's Soccer Honors

Eckerd's Luke Sheekey and Tampa's Ryan Thompson have been selected Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Players of the Week for the period ending October 12.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK --  Eckerd junior forward Luke Sheekey (London, England) scored three goals and assisted on the game-winner, as the Tritons posted a 5-3 road win over Florida Southern.  The Triton victory halted a two-match conference win streak for the Mocs.  Sheekey’s hat trick was his third of the season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK --  Tampa junior goalkeeper Ryan Thompson (Kingston, Jamaica) posted two wins in goal for the Spartans.  Thompson opened the week by making four saves to preserve a 1-0 regional shutout against Palm Beach Atlantic.  He then found himself under siege in an SSC offensive showdown at Barry, facing 18 shots on goal and making 15 saves to help lift Tampa to a 3-2 double overtime victory.  The contest featured a combined 32 shots on goal from the SSC foes.  Thompson concluded the week with a 0.91 GAA.
