Nova Southeastern women’s basketball guard Meixandra Porter was recently selected as part of the Women’s Division II Bulletin Super 16, a preseason ranking of the best players in the nation.

The Women’s Division II Bulletin selected the two best players from each of the NCAA DII regions. Porter was chosen to represent the South Region alongside No. 21 Alabama-Huntsville’s Jasmine Hammon.

“Because Meix’ had a great junior season and helped our program finish the year strong, she is deserving of the Super 16 preseason recognition,” head coach LeAnn Freeland said. “She is one of our hardest workers and is always looking for ways to get better.”

Along with All-South Region accolades, Porter earned All-Sunshine State Conference First Team honors in her NSU debut season last year. The starting guard scored in double-figures in 25-of-28 games played, all of which she started. On the year, she averaged team-highs with 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and three assists per game.

The DII Bulletin also released its preseason Top 25 for both women's and men's basketball.  Rollins appeared at No. 10 in the women's rankings.  In the men's poll, Florida Southern was No. 15, and Saint Leo was No. 23.
