Ben Greenberg, former sports information director at Arkansas Tech University, has been named as assistant athletic director for athletic communication for Florida Southern College, it was announced today by Moccasin Director of Athletics Pete Meyer.
Greenberg replaces Bill Turnage who retired from Florida Southern College in June after serving for 10 years as the College’s director of sports information. Greenberg will begin his duties at Florida Southern on Aug. 1.
“We look forward to having Ben join our team at Florida Southern,” said Meyer in making the announcement. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program and is the person to carry on the fine tradition of excellence exhibited by Bill Turnage the last ten years.”
“My wife and I are extremely excited to join the Florida Southern family and the Lakeland community,” said Greenberg. “I am proud to be a part of one of the top Division II athletic programs in the country and I look forward to working with all the Moccasin coaches and student-athletes.”
At Arkansas Tech, where he served for seven years, Greenberg was responsible for all facets of media relations and sports information for the 10-sport NCAA Division II athletic program. He also served as webmaster for the ATU website and served as co-host of a weekly radio show devoted to Arkansas Tech athletics.
Greenberg, who is an Omaha, Neb., native, is a 1995 journalism and mass communication graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Florida Southern College, a member of the NCAA Division II Sunshine State Conference, sponsors 19 intercollegiate sports and boasts 27 national championships. This past year, the Moccasin athletic program placed 14th in the Leerfield Sports Directors’ Cup nation-wide all-sports standings.
