All six of the women's teams that competed at the 2012 SSC Swimming Championship were among the 2012 Scholar All-America Teams, announced Wednesday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
A total of 44 NCAA Division II women's teams earned a spot on the Scholar All-America Team, led by The College of Saint Rose with a 3.62 team grade point average. Saint Leo placed fourth on the list with a 3.46 team GPA. Florida Southern followed closely in the sixth slot with a collective 3.44 average.
Tampa (3.31), Rollins (3.30), Florida Tech (3.24), and Nova Southeastern (3.11) also made the team.
Swimming just completed its second year as an SSC-sponsored sport. The past season was the inaugural year for the Florida Tech programs. Lynn University will add a women's swimming team in 2012-13.
The SSC men's squads were also well represented on the CSCAA's DII Men's Scholar All-America Team, with half of the league's teams making the 19-team list. Lenoir-Rhyne topped the squad with a team grade point average of 3.57.
Florida Southern led the way for the SSC contingent by ranking fifth with a 3.21 team GPA. Florida Tech (3.14) and Tampa (3.08) were also among the teams honored.
