The Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team reached out to the community by lending a hand with Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, Feb. 4.
The Sharks, donned in pink, took part in Habitat for Humanity of Broward County's Women Build. The fifteen-plus soccer volunteers helped build several homes in the Fort Lauderdale area. The annual event empowers women from all walks of life to make a difference in the community by building the homes for low-income families.
“With all the support we get from the community in and out of season, it feels wonderful to give back, not only by building houses for those in need, but helping to empower women,” said assistant coach Shurell Burton. “It is a very good feeling.”
Also volunteering alongside the Sharks were some Miami Dolphins players and cheerleaders. A similar face to the athletic department was sponsor and participant in the annual Scholarship Golf Tournament, Bob Lieder. He too shared his time and resources with Habitat for Humanity.
