Five SSC men's golfers and three league teams were among those recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) last week for their academic performance.
On Wednesday, the GCAA announced its All-Academic Team honorees. A total of 125 NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA teams submitted grade point averages of 3.0 or higher to earn the distinction.
Barry, Lynn, and Nova Southeastern were among the 14 NCAA Divison II squads to be named All-Academic Teams.
Last week, the GCAA also highlighted the student-athletes who received Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar accolades.
Florida Southern's Peter Creighton, Lynn's Roberto Francioni and Marcelo Rozo, Barry's Daniel Stapff, and Florida Tech's Christian Westhorpe were among the 52 Division II student-athletes honored. In total, 146 golfers from the NCAA and NAIA earned the distinction.
To be eligible for the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar list, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championship, have a stroke average under 78.0 in DII, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2.
