NSU's Ben Taylor Named Division II's Top Golfer

Nova Southeastern men’s golfer Benjamin Taylor has been named the recipient of the 2012 Jack Nicklaus Award as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division II Collegiate Player of the Year.
In his debut season from Leatherhead England, sophomore Taylor has been a national standout who has received numerous honors at the collegiate level as well as in the amateur arena.
As the No.1 nationally ranked golfer the majority of the 2011-12 season, Taylor has been announced as a 2012 Division II PING All-America First-Team selection, 2012 Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, 2012 SSC Champion, 2012 All-SSC First Team member and a SSC Golfer of the week nod.
In his collegiate career Taylor played in 33 rounds over 11 tournaments and finished with a low round 66 and a 70.94 stroke average. With two tournament victories, four runner-ups and three top-five finishes this season Taylor, quickly became a high profile player in the country.
In addition to his collegiate career, Taylor also competed on an amateur stage in three prestigious tournaments this season. Invited to play at The Jones Cup, February 2011, featuring the best collegiate golfers in the country, Taylor finished third overall.
Competing internationally, Taylor played for the The Sir Michael Bonallack Trophy, April 2012, which features the best players from Europe and Asia-Pacific. He played in Portugal at the Monte Rei Golf and Country Club and contributed to team Europe’s victory. Lastly, Taylor was named to the Great Britain and Ireland squad to compete for the 2012 St. Andrews Trophy to be played at Portmarnock Golf Club in Ireland on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
