Taylor & Rozo Named PING Men's Golf All-Americans; Lengden Tabbed Top Freshman

Nova Southeastern's Benjamin Taylor and Lynn's Marcelo Rozo have been named PING First-Team All-America selections for Division II, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America following the stroke-play portion of the NCAA Championships. Taylor's teammate Oscar Lengden was presented the Phil Mickelson Award as the nation's top freshman.
Taylor finished the final round of stroke-play at the NCAA Championships by shooting his second consecutive three-under 69 with five birdies and an overall three-round finish at eight-under par (70-69-69=208). He was just shy of the top individual finisher, Central Oklahoma's Josh Creel, by two-strokes. Taylor finished third on the leaderboard.
First-Team All-America selections included: Taylor, USC-Aiken’s Matt Atkins, Trevor Blair of CSU-Stanislaus, Central Oklahoma’s Josh Creel, Adam Hedges of Belmont Abbey, West Florida’s Carlos Rodriguez, Marcelo Rozo of Lynn, Chico State’s Kyle Souza, and UNC-Pembroke’s Jordan Walor.
Lengdèn was been named recipient of the Phil Mickelson Award, presented by the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation, to the most outstanding freshman in Division II men’s golf.
In his debut season from Helsingborg, Sweden, freshman Lengdèn had a particularly strong finish to his spring season and was also tabbed Sunshine Conference Freshman of the Year. Lengden logged a top-10 finish in each of the Sharks’ last four tournaments. Lengden was the individual champion at Barry’s Buccaneer Invitational. He then finished second at the SSC Championship and 12th at the NCAA Championships.
Lynn's Rozo posted a 71.27 stroke average heading into the postseason. He collected two individual victories and six top-five finishes.
