Kearse and Capers Honored by Division II Bulletin

Eckerd's Lance Kearse and Florida Southern's Kevin Capers were recently recognized by the Division II Bulletin in its postseason accolades. Kearse was a fourth team All-American selection, while Capers was tabbed to the All-Freshman Team.
Kearse helped the Tritons finished 21-9 overall on the season, which included a run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament South Regional in Huntsville, Ala. He averaged a team-high 16.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while starting all 30 games possible. Kearse just finished competing at the Reese's Division II East vs. West All-Star Game in Highland Heights, Ky., and was also named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year. At the all-star showcase, he scored a game-high 24 points on 11-of-13 shooting and made both of his three-point field goals.
Capers, who had previously been voted Freshman of the Year in the Sunshine State Conference, helped lead the Moccasins to a 20-10 season. He was second on the team in scoring with a 14.1 average. He led the team in blocked shots (19) and steals (56) and was second in assists (109). He had the Moccasins’ top single-game scoring performance with a 30-point effort against Rollins on Jan. 28.
