Seven SSC Players Earn Basketball Academic All-District Nod

Seven SSC basketball student-athletes were recently named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Three men's basketball players and four women's standouts dominated the Division II District 5 list. Three of the five Academic All-District men's selections were from SSC institutions, while conference players took four of five slots on the women's squad.
On the men's side, Florida Southern's Brett Bailey and Nova Southeastern's Robert Huntington and Lukas Roesch earned recognition. A junior, Bailey posts a 3.38 GPA as an international business major. A senior majoring in exercise & sports science, Huntington boasts a 3.77 GPA. His teammate, Roesch, is also an exercise & sports science major. The junior carries a 3.34 GPA.
The women's team featured Rollins' Ashley Jones, Florida Southern's Morgan Lamberg and Danielle Walsh, and Florida Tech's Ashton McClairen. A senior, Jones has tallied a 3.76 GPA in political science. Lamberg, who is a biology major with plans to attend medical school, carries a 3.83 average. Walsh presents a 3.91 GPA as a senior mathematics major. A senior, McClairen has achieved a 3.39 GPA in general biology.
The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later.
