NSU Volleyball Visits Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital
The SSC volleyball season came to an end last weekend, and the Nova Southeastern volleyball team has used its extra free time in a positive way.
Several of the Sharks' student-athletes spent Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., playing games, making crafts and coloring with many of the children receiving care at the hospital.
"It was great to see the kids open up and have fun with us," junior Danielle Graham said. "They spend so much time stuck in the hospital, I think they really enjoyed interacting with new people. I think the experience opened our eyes a little bit. We don't realize how fortunate we are, and I think it was a very humbling experience for us."
The Sharks also recently held an online auction in which the pink jerseys from the “Take a Bite Out of Cancer” match against Central Oklahoma were open for bids. The auction raised $700, with all funds being donated to the Side-Out Foundation, which helps support breast cancer research.
